Stintly's Settings screen is where you shape the app to fit how you work. From choosing a polished invoice look to configuring your Pomodoro focus sessions, everything lives in one place. This guide walks through every major settings area so you can configure Stintly once and work the way you want from day one.

Invoice & Estimate Templates

Go to Settings → Invoice Templates to choose the visual style applied to every invoice and estimate you send.

Stintly ships with several built-in template styles including Modern, Minimal, and Classic. Each template has a short description explaining its tone — Modern works well for creative or tech clients, Minimal suits consultants who want clean simplicity, and Classic carries a more traditional professional feel. Tap any template to see a full preview before committing.

To set your logo, tap Upload Logo within the Invoice Templates screen. You can choose an existing image from your photo library or take a new photo with your camera. The logo appears in the preview immediately so you can confirm placement and sizing before saving. A square PNG with a transparent background at 512×512 pixels or larger gives the sharpest result on PDFs.

Your selected template and logo apply to all new invoices. Existing invoices retain the style they were created with unless you regenerate the PDF.

Theme & Appearance

Stintly supports three display modes, toggled directly from the main Settings screen — no sub-menu required:

  • Light — crisp white backgrounds, best in bright environments
  • Dark — deep dark interface, easy on the eyes at night
  • System — automatically matches your iPhone's current appearance setting; switches between Light and Dark as the device does

The toggle takes effect instantly. If you're unsure which to pick, System is the most convenient choice because you never have to think about it again.

Calendar Sync

Stintly can push important dates directly into your native iOS Calendar app. Go to Settings → Calendar Settings to configure this.

First, enable the main Calendar Sync toggle. Stintly will ask for permission to access your calendar the first time you turn this on — tap Allow to proceed. Once enabled, you get granular control over exactly what gets added:

  • Sync invoice due dates — each invoice's due date appears as a calendar event so you know when payment is expected
  • Sync job deadlines — project completion dates show up on your calendar alongside client work
  • Sync tax deadlines — quarterly estimated tax dates are added automatically based on the IRS calendar
  • Sync payment reminders — reminder events fire before invoices become overdue, prompting you to follow up

After changing sync preferences, tap Resync Calendar to immediately apply the new settings to your calendar. If your calendar looks cluttered or you want a clean slate, tap Clear Calendar Events to remove all Stintly-created events at once.

Pomodoro Timer

Stintly has a built-in Pomodoro focus timer integrated with time tracking. Configure it at Settings → Timer Settings.

Work duration sets how long each focused work session runs. Choose from 15, 20, 25, 30, or 45 minutes. The classic Pomodoro is 25 minutes, but many freelancers prefer 45-minute blocks for deep work.

Break duration controls your short break between sessions: 3, 5, or 10 minutes. A 5-minute break is the traditional Pomodoro default and gives enough time to rest without losing momentum.

Long break duration kicks in after a set number of completed sessions: 10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes. A longer break every few cycles helps prevent fatigue during full-day work.

Sessions before long break determines how many work sessions you complete before the longer rest. Options are 2, 3, 4, or 6 sessions. Starting with 4 sessions (the Pomodoro standard) is a good baseline.

Two additional toggles give you more control over the experience:

  • Auto-start breaks — when on, the break timer starts automatically as soon as a work session ends; when off, you manually start each break
  • Idle detection — when enabled, Stintly detects if you have stopped working and pauses the timer; set the idle threshold to 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes depending on how often you step away
Idle detection is especially useful if you tend to walk away without pausing the timer. It keeps your billed time accurate without requiring discipline to always hit pause.

Daily Digest Notifications

The daily digest is a morning briefing notification that summarizes what needs your attention today. Enable it directly from the main Settings screen using the Daily Digest toggle.

Once enabled, tap the Briefing Time picker to choose when the notification appears. Presets range from 6 AM to 9 PM in convenient increments, so you can pick a time that fits your morning routine — whether that's 7 AM with your first coffee or 9 AM when you sit down at your desk.

The digest notification covers:

  • A summary of tasks due or overdue today
  • Any payments due from clients on today's date
  • Overdue invoices that still haven't been paid

It's a lightweight daily pulse-check that keeps your business on track without requiring you to open the app first thing every morning.

Subscription Plans

Your current plan is displayed at the top of the Settings screen. Stintly offers four tiers:

  • Free — core invoicing, expense logging, and time tracking with limits on the number of active clients and invoices per month
  • Pro — unlimited invoices, clients, and jobs; advanced reports; recurring invoices; and more invoice templates
  • Premium (AI Pro) — everything in Pro plus all AI-powered features: smart receipt scanning, AI invoice generation, voice expense entry, the AI Business Assistant, and revenue forecasting
  • Trial — a temporary full-access period; a progress bar on the Settings screen shows how many trial days remain

To upgrade, tap Upgrade Plan and select the tier that fits your needs. All purchases go through Apple's in-app purchase system — your payment details stay with Apple, not Stintly.

If you previously purchased a subscription on another device or after reinstalling the app, tap Restore Purchases to reactivate your entitlements without paying again. To view, pause, or cancel your subscription, tap Manage Subscription, which opens directly to your Apple subscription management page.

The Free tier has no time limit. You can use Stintly indefinitely at no cost within the Free tier limits — there is no forced trial expiration that locks you out.

Business Profile

Your business profile drives the contact information and defaults that appear on every invoice and estimate. Go to Settings → Profile to update:

  • Full name — shown as the contact person on client-facing documents
  • Business name — the trading name that appears prominently at the top of every invoice PDF
  • Business address — required for a professional invoice and for some tax reporting purposes
  • Business phone & email — so clients know how to reach you directly from the invoice
  • Default hourly rate — pre-fills the rate field when you create a new time entry or job
  • Default payment terms — the number of days after invoice date that payment is due (e.g., 14, 30); pre-fills when creating invoices

Stintly also keeps a rate history each time you change your default hourly rate. This is useful at tax time or when reviewing profitability across projects billed at different rates over the year.
